BlackJack is one of the few casino games where you can implement a strategy to alter your chances of winning. This is known as basic strategy.

This is 100% legal and is not card counting. Unfortunately the odds will always be in the favor of the casinos but you can at least bring it closer to being 50/50 and know you played every hand the best it could possibly be played.

BlackJack Coach simulates a game of BlackJack under common table rules, it then tells you if each move was right or wrong and offers advice for next time.

This makes it much easier to learn and fine tune your use of basic strategy making you a better BlackJack player.

no frills, just the basics

after messing around with this for about half an hour, I can say that the idea behind this app is solid, but there are some definite improvements to be made to make it worth 3 bucks. I bought this because I really want to improve my blackjack strategy (I'm pretty much a complete beginner) but this is by no means a complete blackjack trainer. Basically this app is just a trial-and-error blackjack game where you learn by studying your mistakes.

Some improvements I can think of after playing for half an hour:
1. Include a hand history, where you can go back and review plays that you made incorrectly to make sure you don't make the same mistake again.
2. Include a pop-up strategy chart like several other blackjack apps have. (It lists all the possible dealer/player card combinations and how to play each one.) You should be able to call up the chart during a hand and study it before making a play.
3. How about letting you choose the different table options, instead of having just the one set of rules. You could also add other not-so-common variants (it seems like every casino I go to has their own slightly different variation on the normal game.)
4. Add bet amounts and an option for insurance and a way to track your RoI (return on investment) and if possible, add a section on betting strategy and the correct way to bet depending on the stakes vs. your bankroll.

This app has potential and if the developer would add these features this app would definitely be worth 3 bucks and a 5 star rating; as it is now there are free blackjack games that are almost as good.

Skip this

For $3, this app is extremely limited. You can't change the rules, it only says whether your move was correct-it offers no explanation why. After 10 minutes this app food itself deleted from my iPod.
